About S.H.O.W.
Background
NPR
recently played a story detailing the lives of students enrolled in the
Chicago Public School high schools. The story talked about the overall
lack of student attendance and the low grades that students are
receiving. The story goes on to tell of a student who was driven to get
better grades and attend his classes more because his mom offered him
Lil Wayne concert tickets if he met the new attendance and grade
standards.
SHOW was created to address problems in student attendance and grades. Our plan is to host a concert, where all the attendees will have met our requirements for improving their attendance and their grades. This year, we have partnered with 6 Chicago Public High Schools, whose students who are eligible to participate in the program. Only the students who meet our requirements for improving their grades and attendance will be given tickets to the concert. David Abrams Zack Harris
